Chicago VeterinariansDr. Baehr

Dr. Baehr's love of science started early. "As a kid, I liked to spend time outdoors playing in the dirt and with bugs. I was fascinated by nature and animals, and I always wanted to understand how things worked." Originally Dr. Baehr was headed for a career in research biology, when an exceptional experience with a veterinarian who cared for her sick pet set her on a different path. "I was so impressed with the way my veterinarian asked questions, and came up with a plan for my cat, Milan. There was a lot of science in the process. I also remember being so worried, and she put me at ease." Soon after this, Dr. Baehr changed course and decided to become a veterinarian. She always strives to be able to care for people and their pets as well as her veterinarian had cared for Milan. She can't imagine a better or more rewarding career.

Dr. Baehr is interested in many areas of veterinary medicine, including feline medicine, emergency and critical care medicine, anesthesia, and animal welfare. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. She has previously worked as a shelter veterinarian and encourages new and existing pet owners, if they are able, to adopt their next pet.

Dr. Baehr earned her veterinary degree (VMD) at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. In her free time she enjoys various outdoor activities, and is trying to learn how to bake. Dr. Baehr shares her home with her sometimes crabby rescue cat, Olive.

Chicago VeterinariansDr. Ferguson

Dr. Ferguson’s path to pursue a career in veterinary medicine was solidified in high school when she rescued Lexi, a gorgeous and kindhearted Australian Shepherd mix. This adoption enabled her to build a strong relationship with their family veterinarian and witness firsthand how rewarding a career as a veterinarian can be.

Dr. Ferguson believes that an important role of a veterinarian is to nurture the human-animal bond throughout the entire lifetime of your pet. She loves the brand-new puppy and kitten appointments just as much as she enjoys the continued follow-up care of your pet as they grow with your family.

Dr. Ferguson grew up in North Carolina where she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She further earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at North Carolina State University. She has received additional training through completion of Fear Free certification and has been recognized for excellence in small animal surgery. Her professional interests include internal medicine, anesthesia and pain management, and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Ferguson strives to be an active member in the veterinary community with memberships in the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. In her free time, she loves to volunteer with community organizations, cheer on her favorite sports teams, and recently has enjoyed exploring the beautiful city of Chicago!
